Meet Luca Mastroianni, the 18-year-old fashion icon from Belgium

Hey Luca, how did you get into fashion?

I’ve loved fashion since I was really young. I used to watch fashion shows on tv and go shopping with my mom every week, and then my interest and love for fashion just kept growing. I still don’t know what I want to do in the future but working in fashion would be a must as this is what I love the most. However I don’t see myself as a designer.

Where do you get your inspiration for your fire looks?

Mainly from magazines editorials, runway shows (old ones too) and obviously creators on Instagram.

Do you have any heroes or people you admire? If so - who are they?

I’ve been a Beyoncé fan since I was a baby lol. Of course I love her music, but she’s also a big inspiration to me. I admire her for so many things, she’s a perfectionist, her work ethic is insane. I like the way she handles her career and also the fact that she is still improving herself after 20 years in the industry… she’s a legend. To me she’s the best entertainer/performer of our generation.

You collabed with Gentle Monster. Can you tell us how this came about? (and do you plan on doing more modelling?)

They sent me a pair of glasses. They liked my aesthetic and my photos so they asked me to do a post with the glasses. And it turns out Gentle Monster reposted me on their Instagram so I guess they liked it :).
I’ve never considered myself a model but if I got good opportunities to do so, I will.

Who would your dream collab be with?

Probably a photographer : Nick Knight, Tim Walker or Johnny Dufort.

If money were no object, what fashion items would you buy right now?

I’ve always dreamed of something like Louis XIV ’s royal coat. I’d wear it over the shoulders with a simple black turtleneck, leather opera gloves, and shades. Then I’d just casually walk in the streets in this over the top look. A MOOD.

If you could only wear one brand for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Margiela. Timeless, elegant and avant-garde. Clearly an iconic house that still influences the fashion world.

What artists / songs have you had on repeat lately?

JMSN, he’s really talented. His last album called « Velvet » is so good. This is a soul/RnB album with an old school vibe. Definitely an underrated artist.

What film/s should we watch?

Not a film but I’ve just finished the series POSE and I loved it! It shows the queer community during the 80s in New York and gives us a look at the fascinating ball culture. The cinematography as well as the casting is amazing. It also reminds us that the community had to fight against a lot of difficult things during that period. Magic and sad at the same time. I highly recommend.

What’s next on the cards for you?

I don’t know yet. I’m just gonna continue my studies in graphic design and post some photos on Instagram like I do now. Then I’ll see where all this takes me.
